The ICO are planning to introduce a new Accountability Toolkit in 2020. This is a great idea as it will help companies understand what GDPR means for them and will help ensure that are able to meet their obligations. The Optindigo approach will certainly help companies demonstrate their commitment to GDPR and also provide evidence of such.

Let’s not forget that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduced an accountability principle when it was first created, this requires data controllers to demonstrate their compliance with the law through internal data protection measures and practices. These could, and in most circumstances must, include:

  • Implementing data protection policies

  • Recording your processing

  • Taking a data protection by design and by default approach

  • Having written contracts in place with processors

  • Implementing appropriate security measures

  • Recording and, where necessary, reporting data breaches

  • Appointing a data protection officer

  • Establishing processes for handling data subject rights’ requests

  • Carrying out data protection impact assessments

This is where we come in. Our approach is based on meeting these requirements. Take a look at out toolkits now to make sure you are ready for these new guidelines.

Good luck all.
