You must be extra careful when you send out emails, text messages, or letters in the post. Recently, we managed a case with over 25 Subject Access Requests on behalf of a company that sent legitimate emails to their customers but forgot to put their usual name and contact details.

The company used their LTD company name, which is not the name customers know them as. This meant that the recipients did not recognise the company and sent in SARs to find out who had sent the email and to complain about the email. This creates a lot of work and excess stress in an already busy time. Whilst we are here to help, this is an avoidable problem if you are aware and careful.

f you plan to send emails, texts or write letters, make sure you put your usual name and full contact details on them and add a link to your privacy policy and an opt-out link. For the avoidance of doubt - make sure you include the name that the recipient will know you as which may not just be your LTD company name.

If you find yourself in a similar position, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be on hand to help.
