GDPR And Brexit

I am not even going to try to guess what will happen with Brexit or whether we will leave the EU with no deal. I am not going to make any comment at all about the current situation and lack of clear direction for companies, but it is important to tell you that if we leave the EU with no deal there could be serious impacts on the way you handle personal data. The ICO has produced a load of guidance on this but nothing that really tells you what you might need to do. I suggest that if you do transfer data outside the UK to the EU or if you receive data from the EU as part of your operation then at the very least you need to be aware of this. You need to start reviewing the type of data transferred, the security you have in place, and any contracts/agreements you have with the controller or processor regarding this data.

At least this way you should be in a position to take whatever action you need to in order to avoid UK-EU GDPR issues.

Click the link below and take a look at the ICO’s guidance on brexit.

Lets try not mention this again until the end of March! However, if you are really worried then feel free to call to discuss.

Good luck all.
