Sending emails to the wrong person is the most common cause of a possible GDPR breach. This is just too easy to do and although most times this will be inconvenient and embarrassing it is unlikely to be disastrous or warrant a report to the ICO. However, don't be complacent! The ICO has fined companies for sending emails to the wrong people and sending sensitive information to the wrong people will almost certainly require notification to the ICO. Make sure your staff are trained! Make sure they understand the consequences of this simple admin error and make sure you can prove that you have taken reasonable precautions to avoid this.

Sending sensitive personal information to the wrong person could be devastating to the person involved and is pretty easy to avoid. If you think you have had a breach or just want to discuss further feel free to call.

Good luck all.
