Yet another company getting a fine for making nuisance calls - they didn’t remove numbers from people listed on the TPS. This seems like such a simple thing to do that it’s difficult to understand why companies just keep doing this.

Don’t cold call numbers listed in the TPS. You will get a huge fine! Even if you buy numbers from a company promising that the numbers have been screened against the TPS you MUST make sure you do this yourself. The risk is too great. Don’t forget that GDPR also applies and you need to ensure you are compliant. This is not too difficult and definitely something we can help you with. If you need help understanding how to do this just call us. We are always happy to help. Here is an excerpt from the ICO blog.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has fined a Swansea double-glazing company £150,000 for making nuisance calls. Superior Style Home Improvements Ltd called people over an 11 month period whose numbers were registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and who had not given their consent to receive them. The ICO has also issued an Enforcement Notice warning them to stop making the calls.
